There are so many career opportunities within the Victorian Government.
If you are just starting out, or looking to make a career change, your career may not be exactly what you were expecting. It could be much more.
Try not to limit your options by only searching for career paths directly linked to your degree. A business graduate could be the perfect candidate for auditing, policy making, data analysis roles and more. Just as an arts degree provides such a broad range of skills- you can spend hours exploring your options.
The key is your transferable skill set.
What are transferable skills?
These are the skills you have developed during your study (and previous work or volunteer experience), not just the qualification you have been awarded by your University.
For example, you may have completed an arts degree with a major in media. This doesn't mean you need to narrow your job search to media roles. It means your transferable skills may include:
- working in teams
- initiative and accountability
- time management
- communication skills
- conceptual and analytical skills
Just to name a few.
Take some time to think about what you have to offer. You'll find it's a lot more than the title of your degree.
